Best Adjustable Beds — Top 10

Adjustable bases have split into two markets: smart-ecosystem bases from Tempur-Pedic and Sleep Number that cost $2,000+ and are final sale, and direct-to-consumer bases that match most of the feature list for half the money. The motors are rarely the difference — most brands buy from the same few OEM factories — so this Top 10 ranks on the honest fault lines: the real warranty split, whether the base is returnable at all, and whether "wall-hugger" positioning is genuine.

Sven & Son Platinum Series Adjustable Base

ARI Score 91 $1,396

Best for: Wall-hugger geometry, lumbar and pillow tilt at a mid-pack price

Wall-hugger (Nightstand Reach)Independent lumbar + pillow tiltDual massage, 3 modesUSB-A + USB-C ports25-year warranty

Product review

Wall-hugger geometry, an independent lumbar zone and pillow tilt — in a queen base under $1,500. Richmat motors, USB-A and USB-C, app control on both phone platforms and a 4.79/5 owner rating across 925 reviews on Sven & Son's own site complete a flagship feature list with no obvious omissions.

Color Options
Black
Pros
  • Wall-hugger + lumbar + pillow tilt — a combination no rival matches at this price
  • Richmat motors, USB-A and USB-C, iOS and Android app control
  • 4.79/5 across 925 owner reviews for the Platinum base
Cons
  • The 25-year warranty's full/parts split is not published, and the upsold $249 Diamond plan suggests meaningful exclusions
  • Weight capacity and incline degrees are not published

The company

Sven & Son is headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, and ships its bases from there; the company does not publish a founding year on its site. It advertises a 120-night comfort guarantee across its base and bundle pages, though whether the guarantee covers a base-only purchase on the same terms is not separately documented. The 25-year warranty is advertised as best-in-class, but its full-versus-parts split is not published on the product pages, and the paid Diamond Coverage Plan implies the standard warranty is not full-coverage throughout.

Saatva Adjustable Base Plus

ARI Score 86 $1,599

Best for: The longest published full-coverage warranty here — five years full — plus free white-glove setup

Head to 58°, foot to 44°Full-body wave massage, 3 speedsUSB-A + USB-C on each sideZero-clearance design25-year warranty — 5 years full

Product review

A complete, quiet base built by Leggett & Platt, with head lift to 58°, wave massage, under-bed lighting and USB-A and USB-C ports on each side. Its five full-coverage warranty years are the strongest full term in this Top 10, and free white-glove delivery and setup are included.

Color Options
Charcoal
Pros
  • Five full-coverage warranty years inside a 25-year total — best full term here
  • Free white-glove delivery and setup included; most rivals charge $150–$265
  • 4.8/5 from 340 reviews on saatva.com; testers praise smooth, quiet motion
Cons
  • Final sale — no trial and no returns on a $1,599 purchase
  • App control is iOS only; Android owners are remote-only

The company

Saatva is headquartered in New York, NY and reports a 2010 founding. Its base is manufactured by Leggett & Platt — Saatva's own page names the Leggett & Platt control app. The 25-year warranty covers any defective part in full for the first five years; years 6–25 are limited to steel and mechanical parts, with electronics and motors excluded. Saatva states plainly on the product page that adjustable bases are not eligible for returns or exchanges.

TEMPUR-Ergo Smart Base

ARI Score 83 $2,199

Best for: Sleep-tracking tech — automatic snore response and sleep coaching

Health 2021 Sleep Award winnerSnore Response™ auto head raiseLumbar support raises up to 6″650 lb capacityWarranty 3 full / 5 parts / 25 frame

Product review

The technology leader in this field: the Sleeptracker-AI system detects snoring and raises the head about 12° on its own, and adds sleep tracking, coaching and a smart alarm. True adjustable lumbar support (up to 6″), 2-zone massage and USB plus USB-C ports round out the package — at the highest price here, and final sale.

Color Options
Charcoal
Pros
  • Health Sleep Awards 2021 winner (sleep trackers)
  • Automatic snore detection and response no rival base offers
  • Adjustable lumbar up to 6″, plus a published 3/5/25 warranty split — rare transparency at the premium end
  • 4.59/5 across 448 reviews at tempurpedic.com
Cons
  • $2,199 and final sale — the most expensive way to buy adjustability here, with no return path
  • 650-lb capacity is the lowest among the premium bases in this list

The company

Tempur-Pedic is part of Tempur Sealy International, headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky; the Tempur-Pedic brand reports a 1992 founding. Tempur-Pedic publishes its base warranty split in full: years 1–3 full parts and labor, years 4–5 parts only, frame to 25 years — one retailer's "5-year full" listing conflicts with those terms. Adjustable bases are non-returnable at Tempur-Pedic direct; the 90-night trial applies to mattresses only. Delivery is free white-glove.

Leggett & Platt Prodigy 2.0

ARI Score 83 $1,399

Best for: Genuine Wallhugger® mechanics from the manufacturer itself, at dealer prices

Wallhugger® designPillow tilt8 USB ports (4 per side)850 lb lift capacityWarranty 1 full / 3 parts / 25 frame

Product review

The genuine Wallhugger®, pillow tilt, dual wave massage and eight USB ports from the industry's largest base manufacturer, at a $1,399 dealer street price that undercuts every branded rival with the same geometry. The trade-offs are the channel: dealer-only sales, variable pricing, and the thinnest full-warranty term in this Top 10.

Color Options
Black
Pros
  • Wallhugger® + pillow tilt + wave massage + 8 USB ports for $1,399 street
  • Made by the largest base manufacturer — parts and service depth no DTC brand matches
  • Deep owner base; capacitive remote and dimmable, programmable lighting are consistently praised
Cons
  • Only one year of full warranty coverage despite the "25-year" headline
  • Sold through dealers with variable pricing and no manufacturer trial; the 2.0 is being phased into the PT/LBR line

The company

Leggett & Platt is headquartered in Carthage, Missouri and reports an 1883 founding; it is also the OEM behind many rival bases, including Saatva's. It sells this line through authorized dealers rather than direct, so there is no manufacturer trial and return policies vary by dealer. Its standard warranty runs 1-3-25: year one full, years 2–3 parts only, and years 4–25 steel and mechanical parts only, with electronics and motors excluded.

ARI Score 82 $800

Best for: Budget buyers who still want a real trial on the base itself

100-night trial covers the baseDual massage — wave, pulse, constant750 lb capacity (queen)6 presets incl. zero gravity10-year warranty

Product review

The value benchmark of this Top 10: dual massage, six presets, under-bed lighting, dual USB and Bluetooth app control for $799.99. What sets it apart is policy, not hardware — a genuine 100-night trial that expressly covers the adjustable frame, which is almost unheard of in this category.

Color Options
Black
Pros
  • A real 100-night trial on the base itself, plus a 10-year warranty, at $800
  • Full mid-range feature set: dual massage, app, under-bed light, dual USB, six presets
  • Tool-free Quick Snap assembly; 4.75/5 owner rating on lucidmattress.com
Cons
  • No wall-hugger, lumbar or pillow tilt — a flat feature ceiling next to the top four
  • Owner complaints recur about curbside freight delivery (heavy pallet, no in-home setup); the app is iOS-first

The company

Lucid is a brand of Malouf, headquartered in Logan, Utah; Malouf reports a 2003 founding, which was not re-confirmed on the company's own site during our check. Lucid's product page states its adjustable frames are backed by a 100-day sleep trial and a 10-year warranty, with returns accepted within 100 days of delivery — the most buyer-friendly base policy in this Top 10. The warranty's full-versus-parts split is not published.

Nectar Premier Adjustable Base product photo

Nectar Premier Adjustable Base

ARI Score 78 $769

Best for: The joint-lowest street price here, with a home trial and 850-lb capacity

850 lb capacity4 USB portsMassage, 3 settingsTrial stated as 60 nights — FAQ says 503-year warranty

Product review

One of only three bases here with any home trial at all, at the joint-lowest street price in the Top 10: independent head and foot lift, 3-setting massage, 4 USB ports and app plus remote control on an 850-lb frame. Nectar's own FAQ is honest that it is not a wall hugger — the head section pulls away from the wall as it rises.

Color Options
Gray
Pros
  • A home trial at $749–$769 for a queen — rare at this price
  • 850-lb capacity, 4 USB ports, app and remote, tool-free setup
  • 4.6/5 across 3,755 ratings on nectarsleep.com
Cons
  • Nectar's own page contradicts itself on trial length — 60 nights in the title, 50 in the FAQ
  • 3-year warranty is short for a motorized product, and there is no wall-hugger geometry

The company

Nectar is a Resident Home brand; Resident Home reports its headquarters in New York, NY, and Nectar a 2016 founding. The accountability flag is on Nectar's own page: the Premier is marketed with a "60-Nights Trial" in the product title while the FAQ on the same page says returns are accepted "up to 50 nights" — an inconsistency the company has not resolved. The warranty is 3 years, with the full-versus-parts split not published; the base's OEM is also not published.

DreamCloud Premier Adjustable Base

ARI Score 77 $769

Best for: The same trial value as its Nectar twin, with under-bed lighting added

850 lb capacity60-night trial, free return shippingUnder-bed lighting4 USB ports2-year warranty

Product review

The same Resident Home platform as the Nectar Premier — independent head and foot lift, 3-intensity massage, 4 USB ports, app and remote — with under-bed lighting added, a point of difference from its twin. It also carries the same honest offer: a genuine 60-night trial on the base with free return shipping.

Color Options
Gray
Pros
  • A genuine 60-night trial on the base with free returns, at $749–$769 for a queen
  • Adds under-bed lighting to the shared platform's feature set
  • 2,044 owner reviews on dreamcloudsleep.com
Cons
  • The 2-year warranty is the shortest in this Top 10 — thin cover for motors and electronics
  • Hardware is effectively identical to the Nectar Premier, which carries a longer 3-year warranty on the same platform

The company

DreamCloud is a Resident Home brand, launched in 2018 (company-reported); Resident Home reports its headquarters in New York, NY. DreamCloud's own FAQ confirms a 60-night home trial on the base itself with free return shipping. The warranty is 2 years — the weakest accountability offer in this field — with the split not published, and the base's OEM is not published either.

Sleep Number FlexFit 3 Smart Adjustable Base

ARI Score 74 $2,399

Best for: Existing Sleep Number owners — foot warming and Partner Snore™

Foot warming — only one herePartner Snore™ (Split King/FlexTop)Motion-activated under-bed lightingPhysical remote sold separately15-year limited warranty

Product review

Foot warming and Partner Snore™ are genuinely unique features, and SleepIQ app integration makes this the natural base for existing Sleep Number owners, with 570+ stores for in-person testing. But the full value requires a Sleep Number smart bed, the physical remote costs extra, and the base is final sale.

Color Options
Gray
Pros
  • Foot warming and Partner Snore™ offered by no other base here
  • Motion-activated under-bed lighting and app-scheduled warming show real smart-home polish
  • 570+ retail stores allow in-person testing — unique in this list
Cons
  • Final sale and excluded from the headline 100-night trial — a fact owners repeatedly say they learned from the fine print
  • Ecosystem lock-in: prorated warranty, third-party support routing reported by owners, remote sold separately

The company

Sleep Number is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota and was founded in 1987 as Select Comfort (company-reported). Its own support site lists adjustable bases and FlexFit smart bases as Final Sale, excluded from the 100-night In-Home Trial, which covers mattresses only. The warranty is a 15-year limited structure with full coverage in year one and prorated coverage thereafter; owner reports describe base support being routed to a third-party manufacturer with prorated parts charges inside that term.

Ergomotion Quest 2.5 product photo

Ergomotion Quest 2.5

ARI Score 74 $1,449

Best for: Voice control that needs no phone, remote or smart speaker

Good Housekeeping 2021 Bedding Award winnerOffline voice control (Hello Ergo)SilentDrive™ motorsFoldable, zero-clearance frame10-year limited warranty

Product review

Built-in offline voice control ("Hello Ergo") is unique in this Top 10 — no phone, remote or smart speaker required — on a foldable, zero-clearance frame with quiet SilentDrive™ motors. Buying from a tier-one OEM should mean strong support; the warranty text and confused direct pricing tell a weaker story.

Color Options
Black
Pros
  • Good Housekeeping 2021 Bedding Award winner
  • Offline voice control is unique in this Top 10
  • Foldable, zero-clearance frame suits platform beds and small rooms
  • Tier-one OEM pedigree — Ergomotion's service infrastructure stands behind several other brands here
Cons
  • The 10-year warranty excludes motors, control box and remote from its long portion and prorates parts after year 5
  • Direct store showed the model sold out at check, with a 4.5 rating from only 8 reviews including fulfillment complaints

The company

Ergomotion is headquartered in Goleta, California and reports a 2005 founding; it also manufactures bases for other brands in this ranking, including Brooklyn Bedding's Ascension line. Its published Quest warranty covers mechanical base parts for 10 years but excludes the cover, legs, motors, control box, remote and power supply from that portion, and shifts a prorated share of part cost to the owner after year 5. No manufacturer trial is published, and Ergomotion's own store showed the Quest 2.5 sold out when checked.

Brooklyn Bedding Ascension Luxe Adjustable Power Base

ARI Score 71 $899

Best for: Factory-direct pricing and warranty terms published in full

750 lb capacityZero-clearance, platform-readyBattery backup for outage loweringBuilt by Ergomotion (OEM)Warranty 2 full / 5 parts / 10 mechanical

Product review

Factory-direct pricing on a zero-clearance base with a battery-backup power-down box: $899 list for a queen, routinely discounted to the mid-$600s, with five-minute tool-free assembly. The feature set is the sparsest here — no massage, no app, no confirmed USB — and all sales are final.

Color Options
Black
Pros
  • Zero-clearance, battery-backup base for $899 list, routinely discounted to the mid-$600s
  • Unusually transparent warranty text, published in full on the product FAQ, with the OEM identified
  • 4.6/5 across 297 reviews on brooklynbedding.com; owners praise sturdiness and fast assembly
Cons
  • Final sale with no trial, and the barest feature set here — no massage or app
  • Owner complaints recur about unclear instructions and at least one base that never arrived

The company

Brooklyn Bedding is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, where its mattress factory sits, and reports a 1995 founding. The base itself is made in Vietnam by Ergomotion — Brooklyn Bedding's own page routes warranty registration to Ergomotion and lists its support line. Brooklyn Bedding publishes the full warranty structure in its FAQ (2 years full, parts to year 5, mechanical parts to year 10 with motors and electronics excluded from the last portion), and states plainly that all adjustable-base sales are final and non-refundable; the 365-night trial covers mattresses only.

The verdict

The Sven & Son Platinum wins because it is the only base in the field combining true wall-hugger geometry, an independent lumbar zone and pillow tilt with a 25-year warranty at a sub-$1,400 queen price. Buyers loyal to a mattress ecosystem should still look at the TEMPUR-Ergo Smart (best sleep-tracking tech) and the Saatva Plus (the most full-coverage warranty years). Shoppers under $800 should start with the Lucid L600 — the rare base that still offers a real 100-night trial.

Questions, answered

Are adjustable bases returnable?

Usually not. Of the ten bases ranked here, only three offer a home trial on the base itself: the Lucid L600 (100 days), and the Nectar Premier and DreamCloud Premier (60 nights marketed). Tempur-Pedic, Saatva, Sleep Number and Brooklyn Bedding all sell their bases final sale; the headline mattress trials at those brands do not cover bases.

What does "wall-hugger" actually mean, and which bases have it?

A wall-hugger base translates the deck backward as the head rises, so the sleeper stays next to the nightstand and wall instead of being pushed toward the foot of the bed. In this Top 10, only the Sven & Son Platinum ("Nightstand Reach") and the Leggett & Platt Prodigy 2.0 (Wallhugger®) have it. Nectar states in its own FAQ that its base is not a wall hugger.

How long is a "25-year warranty" really?

The headline number is the frame/mechanical tail, not full coverage. Full-coverage years in this field: Saatva Plus 5 years, Tempur-Pedic 3 years full (parts to 5, frame to 25), Brooklyn Bedding 2 years full, Leggett & Platt just 1 year full inside its 1-3-25 structure. After the full term, electronics and motors are typically excluded and owners pay labor, shipping, and sometimes a prorated share of parts.

Who actually makes these bases?

A handful of OEMs supply most of the market. Leggett & Platt makes Saatva's Adjustable Base Plus (Saatva's page names the Leggett & Platt control app) and built legacy Sleep Number FlexFit bases. Ergomotion manufactures Brooklyn Bedding's Ascension line (Brooklyn Bedding's warranty registration runs through Ergomotion). Sven & Son states its bases use Richmat motors. Resident Home (Nectar/DreamCloud) does not publish its base OEM.
