Best Toaster Ovens — Top 10

A toaster oven earns its counter space as an oven, not as a function count. The tests that matter are unglamorous: does toast brown evenly edge to edge without rotating, does the cavity hold 350°F at 350°F rather than 385°F, does a 9x13 pan actually fit with the door closed, and does a roast cook through before its surface scorches? Air fry modes are included in most models ranked here, but they were judged as a bonus — every oven below was scored first on toast, bake and roast evenness, temperature accuracy and honest capacity, because that is the work a toaster oven is bought to do.

Capacity is this category's known sin, so a convention up front: makers quote interior volume in litres, quarts and cubic feet that cannot be compared across brands, and some quote the box instead of the cavity. We therefore rank capacity by what fits — toast slices, pizza diameter and whether a standard 9x13-inch pan fits — and give published interior dimensions where the maker states them, as Panasonic commendably does. Prices are the standard single retail configuration of each oven, verified this session at the maker's store or a named major US retailer; bundles and membership-club variants were excluded.

KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven with Air Fry and Pizza (KCO128)
Near-duplicate of the ranked KCO124 with an added pizza cycle and stone for $50 more at KitchenAid's own store. The stone is nice; it does not change the oven judgment, and one KitchenAid slot is enough.
KitchenAid$35074
Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Compact (BOV680)
A good smaller Breville (10 functions, $249.95 at breville.com), but it surrenders the pan capacity and two-rack room that make the BOV860 worth its premium, and the Panasonic owns the compact slot on toast evenness and price.
Breville$25073

Ninja Prestige Smart XL Countertop Oven (DT501)

Ninja$25071
Instant Omni 18L Air Fryer Toaster Oven (7-in-1)
The non-Plus Omni drops rotisserie, dehydrate and warm functions and was discounted as low as $89.99 in an Oct 14, 2026 deal post — a clearance pattern, not a stable line. The Plus at $269.99 is the sustainable Instant pick.

COSORI 26-Quart Ceramic Air Fryer Toaster Oven
The ceramic-burner variant (door-open stovetop cooking) is clever and easy to clean, but at $299.99 on cosori.com it costs nearly double the ranked CTO-R251S while its oven calibration carries the same trial-and-error caveat.
COSORI$30069
Hamilton Beach 2-in-1 Oven & Toaster (31156)
A toaster slot grafted onto a small oven: Consumer Reports praised its toasting and baking, but the oven chamber fits only an 8x8 pan and toasts two slices in oven mode. The Easy Reach is the better pure-oven value at $40 less.
Hamilton Beach$10068
Cuisinart TOA-26 Compact AirFryer Toaster Oven
The compact TOA shrinks the dial-controlled formula to roughly half the TOA-70's cavity while keeping its runs-hot reputation. The Panasonic toasts better in the same counter space and the TOA-70 bakes bigger for $70 more.
Cuisinart$15067
Breville Mini Smart Oven (BOV450)
A long-running compact with strong ease-of-use scores at TechGearLab, but no air fry, dated controls and a $160 list price against the FlashXpress at $149.99, which toasts faster and more evenly. Legacy model; the compact Breville idea now lives in the BOV680.
Breville$16066
BLACK+DECKER 4-Slice Toaster Oven (TO1313SBD)
The default budget box: four functions, a 30-minute timer and natural convection only. At the same $59.99 street level, the Hamilton Beach Easy Reach adds measured temperature accuracy and a removable roll-top door, so the BLACK+DECKER is screened on a direct head-to-head.

Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro (BOV900)

AmRank Score 92 $400

Best for: Most households that want one countertop oven to genuinely replace the big oven: the most even toast, bake and roast results in the field, with honest 1 cu ft capacity.

1.0 cu ft (maker) · fits 9x13 pan13 functions · Element iQ9 toast slices · 13-inch pizza1800W · 80-480°F2-year warranty

Product review

The Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro is the oven-first benchmark: Breville's Element iQ steers power among six independent quartz elements and PID sensing holds the set temperature, which is why it toasts nine slices evenly and roasts without the hot-spot rotation cheaper ovens demand. The 1 cu ft cavity honestly fits a 9x13 pan, a 13-inch pizza and, per Breville, a 14-lb turkey. It is large and expensive, and that is the whole trade — nothing else ranked matches its evenness across toast, bake and roast at once.

Pros
  • Most even toast, bake and roast results in the field, with PID temperature control
  • Honest large capacity: 9x13 pan, 13-inch pizza, 12-cup muffin tray
  • Two-speed Super Convection, interior light and a full accessory set included
Cons
  • $399.95 is the joint-highest price in the ranking and sales are periodic, not permanent
  • 21.4-inch width and 12.7-inch height claim serious counter and cabinet clearance
  • Air Fry is competent, not class-leading — judged as an oven it wins; as a pure air fryer a basket model crisps faster

Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer (BOV860)

AmRank Score 90 $350

Best for: Smaller kitchens that want Breville oven quality without the Pro's footprint or price: six slices, a whole chicken, and the same Element iQ discipline.

0.8 cu ft (maker)11 functions · Element iQ6 toast slices · 13-inch pizza pan incl.1800W · dual-speed convection2-year warranty

Product review

The Smart Oven Air Fryer (BOV860) keeps the Pro's core oven engineering — Element iQ power steering, PID temperature control and dual-speed convection — in a 0.8 cu ft body that toasts six slices and roasts a whole chicken. Independent roundups consistently place it just behind the Pro on evenness, ahead of every non-Breville rival. It ranks second because it is the same oven judgment in a smaller, cheaper box, not because it does anything the Pro cannot.

Pros
  • Element iQ and PID control deliver near-Pro evenness and temperature accuracy
  • Fits a 13-inch pizza pan, 9-cup muffin tray and a whole chicken
  • Interior light, LCD and included air fry basket, roasting and pizza pans
Cons
  • Gives up the Pro's dehydrate capacity, proof breadth and second rack working room
  • Still a premium price for a 0.8 cu ft oven — budget brands offer more raw space for half the money
  • 13-inch pizza pan is included, but a true 13-inch frozen pizza is a tight fit versus the Pro

#3

Ninja Prestige Smart XL Air Fryer & Countertop Oven (DT551)

AmRank Score 88 $250

Best for: Families cooking on two levels at once: sheet-pan dinners and roasts where the included thermometer, not guesswork, decides doneness.

10 functions · 1800W2-level cooking · 9 toast slicesFits 12-lb turkey (maker)Pro Cook thermometer included1-year warranty

Product review

The Prestige Smart XL is the throughput pick: a rear heat source and high-velocity fan (Smart Surround Convection) are built for even cooking on two levels without rotating, and the Pro Cook thermometer ends roasts at a target internal temperature. Ninja claims a 90-second preheat and capacity for a 12-lb turkey or 20 cookies. Judged as an oven it is fast and capacious; it ranks below the Brevilles on warranty length and on the depth of independent temperature-accuracy evidence.

SharkNinja Operating LLC publishes customer service at 1-877-646-5288 and backs Ninja countertop ovens with a one-year limited warranty in its owner's guides. SharkNinja does not publish a general support email for Ninja appliances, so that field is blank.

Pros
  • Two-level even cooking with no flipping or rotating, per maker design and owner reports
  • Included Pro Cook thermometer takes doneness guesswork out of roasts
  • 90-second preheat claim and 10 functions including Whole Roast and Pizza
Cons
  • One-year warranty is half the Breville term and a third of Cuisinart's, on a premium-priced oven
  • Best Buy's own review summary flags noise on air fry and roast settings
  • Temperature accuracy evidence is thinner than Breville's or Cuisinart's — its strength is speed and two-level throughput, not lab-verified precision

Cuisinart Chef's Convection Toaster Oven (TOB-260N1)

AmRank Score 87 $300

Best for: Bakers and pizza makers who do not need air fry branding: a true convection oven with a pizza stone, dual-cook staging and a three-year warranty.

0.95 cu ft (maker)15 functions · Exact Heat sensor9 toast slices · 13-inch pizza + stone1875W (retailer spec)3-year warranty

Product review

The Chef's Convection TOB-260N1 is the last great oven-first countertop oven: 15 functions, an Exact Heat sensor, Dual Cook staging and Speed Convection, in a 0.95 cu ft cavity that fits nine slices, a 13-inch pizza on the included stone, or a 9x13 pan. Wirecutter and Good Housekeeping have long ranked it the large-oven pick, and its three-year warranty is the best accountability in this ranking. It loses ground only on interface complexity and the absence of a true air fry preset.

Pros
  • Even baking and toasting with Exact Heat sensor and two convection speeds
  • Included 13-inch pizza stone, two racks, 9x13 pan and broiling pan
  • Three-year limited warranty — the longest of any ranked oven
Cons
  • No dedicated air fry function — convection and Speed Convection crisp well, but it is not sold as an air fryer
  • Programming is the fiddliest in the top tier; multiple testers call the dial-and-button logic confusing at first
  • 32.4 lb and nearly 21 inches wide — it is furniture-grade counter commitment

#5The Buck4Buck — best value in this category, American Ranking Institute award badge

Panasonic FlashXpress Toaster Oven (NB-G110P)

AmRank Score 86 $150

Best for: Toast-first households and small counters: the fastest, most even four-slice toasting in the ranking, with no preheat, in a 13-inch-wide box.

4 slices · 9-inch tray incl.Double infrared · no preheat1300W · 250-500°FInterior 10.2 x 9.8 x 4.1 in1-year warranty

Product review

The FlashXpress is the compact exception that earns its place on oven merits: near- and far-infrared elements at front and back heat instantly — no preheat — and toast four slices more evenly than ovens three times its price, a result Wirecutter-style testing has praised for a decade. Its interior is honestly tiny (10.2 x 9.8 x 4.1 inches, a 9-inch tray included) and Panasonic says so, which is exactly the capacity honesty this category usually lacks. Buy it for toast, reheating and personal pizzas, not for family roasts.

Pros
  • Instant infrared heat with no preheat and exceptionally even toast
  • Compact 13 x 12-inch footprint with a door-linked rack that pulls food toward you
  • Honest published interior dimensions instead of inflated volume claims
Cons
  • Hard capacity ceiling: four slices, a 9-inch pizza, no 9x13 pan and no whole chicken
  • 25-minute maximum timer is short for roasts and slow bakes
  • No convection fan and no air fry function — it is a radiant toaster oven, deliberately

#6

KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven with Air Fry (KCO124)

AmRank Score 84 $300

Best for: Design-led kitchens that still cook seriously: a 9x13 pan, fast preheat and even-heat convection in the smallest footprint of the large ovens.

Fits 9x13 pan (included)9 functions · Even-Heat convection12-inch pizza · 2 chickens (maker)1800W · preheat under 4 min (maker)1-year warranty

Product review

The KCO124 pairs KitchenAid's Even-Heat convection — top and bottom elements plus a fan — with a genuinely useful cavity: the included 9x13 pan fits, as does a 12-inch pizza, and KitchenAid claims preheat to 350°F in under four minutes. CNN Underscored named the sibling KCO124 its best air fryer toaster oven in hands-on testing, praising operation and results. It ranks sixth on warranty length and because its temperature-accuracy evidence is thinner than the top four's.

Pros
  • Fits a 9x13 pan in a comparatively compact footprint, with pan and grill rack included
  • Fast preheat and simple digital controls testers found easy to live with
  • Hassle-Free Replacement warranty service in the first year
Cons
  • One-year warranty trails Cuisinart's three years and Breville's two at a similar price
  • No-Flip air fry claims are marketing-forward; as an oven its bake evenness, while good, sits a tier below the Brevilles

18L (maker) · fits 12-inch pizza10 functions incl. rotisserie6 toast slices1800W · 170-450°F1-year warranty

Product review

The Omni Plus is the mid-price generalist: 18L as Instant states it, ten functions including rotisserie and dehydrate, quartz infrared elements and room for a 12-inch pizza or six slices of toast. Hands-on testers found its oven work — Brussels sprouts, bacon, roasting — evenly cooked, if sometimes slower than the times printed on the box. It ranks seventh because its ceiling is competence across everything rather than excellence at any one oven task, and its warranty is a single year.

Pros
  • Ten functions including rotisserie in an 18L family cavity
  • Dishwasher-safe enamel tray and accessories simplify cleanup
  • Instant's recipe app ecosystem is the deepest of any brand ranked here
Cons
  • Toast and air fry evenness trail the Breville and Cuisinart leaders in hands-on testing — some foods need the full preheat and a mid-cook turn
  • Rotisserie clearance is tight; owner reports describe whole chickens jamming the spit
  • One-year warranty and a largely app-led support path versus Cuisinart's three-year term

Cuisinart AirFryer Toaster Oven with Grill (TOA-70)

AmRank Score 81 $220

0.6 cu ft (maker)8 functions incl. Grill6 toast slices · 12-inch pizza1800W · Warm-450°F3-year warranty

Product review

The TOA-70 is the dial-controlled workhorse of the Cuisinart air fryer oven line: 0.6 cu ft, eight functions including a reversible grill/griddle plate, an interior light and 1800W in a footprint smaller than the TOB-260 above it. As an oven it bakes and roasts credibly and its three-year warranty is excellent, but temperature control is a knob, not a number, and owners consistently report it runs hot. It ranks eighth: capable, warranted and imprecise.

Pros
  • Simple dials, interior light and a useful grill/griddle plate included
  • Three-year warranty matches the TOB-260 and beats every non-Cuisinart rival
  • Compact footprint for a six-slice, 12-inch-pizza oven
Cons
  • Analog dials give no precise temperature readout, and the TOA line is widely reported to run hot — recipes need adjusting down
  • 0.6 cu ft is materially smaller than its family-size marketing suggests; a 12-inch pizza just fits
  • Nonstick interior and hand-wash accessories age faster than the Brevilles' enamel and steel

Product review

The Smart 12-in-1 (CTO-R251S) is the budget large oven done mostly right: six heating elements, a two-speed fan, 12 functions and VeSync app control in a maker-stated 26-quart cavity that fits six slices, a 12-inch pizza or a 5-lb chicken. BestReviews' hands-on testing praised its air frying and build, and flagged exactly what keeps it ninth — bake temperatures needed trial and error. At $159.99 nothing else this size is close; on oven precision, the gap to the leaders is real.

Pros
  • Lowest price per litre in the ranking, with app and voice control included
  • Six elements and a two-speed fan for a budget oven
  • Two-year warranty with published email and phone support
Cons
  • Hands-on testing needed trial and error on bake temperatures and times — oven calibration is its weak suit versus Breville and Cuisinart
  • 15.5-inch height barely fits under standard upper cabinets, per BestReviews testing
  • Accessories are hand-wash only per the manual, despite the family-size batches it invites

Hamilton Beach Easy Reach Toaster Oven with Roll-Top Door

AmRank Score 77 $60

4 slices · 9-inch pizzaBake, broil, toast · no fan30-min timer · stay-on settingRoll-top door · removable door1-year warranty

Product review

The Easy Reach is the honest budget oven: a roll-top door that opens over the top (and removes for cleaning), four-slice capacity and three simple functions. TechGearLab measured its temperature accuracy at 9.0/10 — an average 345°F at a 350°F setpoint, matching ovens triple its price — and a 2.4-minute preheat, the fastest in its test group. It ranks tenth because evenness, not accuracy, is its limit: plan to rotate food, and plan on personal portions.

Pros
  • Measured temperature accuracy (9.0/10, TechGearLab) that embarrasses pricier ovens
  • Roll-top, removable door makes access and deep cleaning genuinely easy
  • Fastest preheat in its independent test group at about 2.4 minutes
Cons
  • No convection fan: TechGearLab found distinct hot spots and uneven browning that needed mid-cook rotation
  • Cramped interior limits cooking to personal portions — no 9x13 pan, no family pizza
  • Unmarked dials require guesswork, and there is no interior light or digital temperature display

Hamilton Beach Easy Reach Toaster Oven with Roll-Top Door

The verdict

The Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro (BOV900) wins at 92 because it is the most accurate and even oven in the field — Element iQ power steering and PID control produce the toast, bake and roast results every rival is measured against, in an honestly large 1 cu ft cavity, for $399.95. Most buyers should actually buy its smaller sibling, the BOV860 at No. 2, and save $50. The honest alternatives split by job: the Cuisinart TOB-260N1 (No. 4) for bakers who want a pizza stone and a three-year warranty without air fry branding, the Panasonic FlashXpress (No. 5) for toast-first small kitchens, and the COSORI CTO-R251S (No. 9) if the budget is hard — accepting looser temperature calibration as the price of admission.

Questions, answered

Are air fryer toaster ovens actually good ovens?

The best ones are — because a good air fryer oven is just a good convection oven with a faster fan setting. The Breville BOV900 and BOV860 and the Cuisinart TOB-260N1 hold set temperatures and brown evenly with the fan low or off, which is what baking requires. Where models disappoint as ovens, it is usually calibration: dial-controlled ovens like the Cuisinart TOA-70 are widely reported to run hot, so delicate bakes need the dial set lower than the recipe says.

Why do capacity numbers differ so much between brands?

Because there is no enforced standard: makers variously quote interior volume, exterior volume, or a litre figure that includes unusable corners near the elements. A '26-quart' oven and a '0.95 cu ft' oven can hold nearly the same food. Compare what fits instead — toast slices, pizza diameter, and above all whether a standard 9x13-inch pan fits with clearance, the single most useful capacity test for a countertop oven.

How accurate are countertop oven temperatures?

It varies more than price suggests. Breville's PID-controlled ovens and Cuisinart's Exact Heat sensor models hold setpoints closely, and independent testing measured even the $59.95 Hamilton Beach Easy Reach averaging 345°F at a 350°F setting (9.0/10 for accuracy at TechGearLab). Analog-dial ovens are the loosest. Whatever you buy, a $15 oven thermometer tells you your unit's offset in one bake, and cooking to that offset fixes most 'bad oven' complaints.

What size toaster oven do I actually need?

Four slices (Panasonic FlashXpress class) covers toast and reheating for one or two people. Six slices with a 12-inch pizza fit (COSORI, Instant, Cuisinart TOA-70) is the family minimum. If you bake in a 9x13 pan, roast whole chickens or cook for gatherings, you need the large class — Breville Pro, Cuisinart TOB-260N1, Ninja Prestige — and the counter clearance to match: all three are roughly 17-21 inches wide and need space above them.

Is a toaster oven worth it if I already own a basket air fryer?

Yes, and the basket fryer is the one that becomes redundant. A basket fryer cannot bake a cake, fit a 9x13 pan, toast six slices or roast a chicken flat; a good countertop oven does all of that and air fries credibly in its basket. That is why this ranking screens dedicated basket air fryers out entirely: judged as ovens, they are not ovens at all. Keep the basket only if counter space forbids a real oven and crisping small batches is truly all you do.
