Best Smart Scales — Top 10

Every smart scale in this ranking measures exactly one thing well — your weight — and estimates everything else. Body-composition figures come from bioelectrical impedance: a harmless current, a resistance reading, and an algorithm. That does not make the estimates useless; it makes consistency the whole game. The scales that rank highest here are the ones built for repeatable trends — position guidance, handles that put the upper body in the measured path instead of modeling it, and Wi-Fi sync that records the weigh-in even when your phone is in another room.

We screened about twenty current US models and ranked ten on measurement consistency and how much of the body is actually in the circuit first, then on owner satisfaction at scale, value — with subscription requirements for full app features counted against the product — and company accountability: published support contacts, warranty, app longevity and how each maker handles health data. Prices below are for a single scale with no subscription bundled.

Etekcity Smart Fitness Scale
Strong budget record at Best Buy (4.7 stars, 151 reviews; 12 metrics, USB-rechargeable, unlimited users), but Bluetooth-only, and Etekcity's lineup carries many near-identical models and ASINs, which makes exact-model support and tracking messy next to the Elis 1's cleaner record.
Etekcity$3079
Omron Body Composition Monitor and Scale (BCM-500)
Clinically validated six metrics and Omron's accountability at a $97.99 MSRP, but foot-to-foot only, four users, a 330 lb cap and no Wi-Fi — and Omron's own VIVA 360+ covers segmental measurement for $32 more.
Omron$9878
Withings Body Comp
Adds cardiovascular and nerve-health class metrics over Body Smart on the same foot platform, but at $229.95 it is squeezed from both sides — Body Smart does the everyday job for $100 less and Body Scan adds the handle, ECG and segmental measurement above it.
Withings$23077
Withings BodyScan 2
The newest flagship (US launch July 2026) claims 60-plus biomarkers, but at $599.95, with some maker-listed scores such as Heart Age and Glucose Resilience tied to a Withings+ subscription and essentially no US owner base yet, it is a watch-this-space product, not a ranked one.
Withings$60076
Hume Body Pod
Handle-based segmental scanning with a polished app, but long-form review evidence found the hardware flimsy for the price, there is no Wi-Fi, and some features sit behind a Hume Plus plan reported at about $100 a year — the subscription model this ranking scores against.
Hume Health$22975
Wyze Scale Ultra BodyScan
Wyze's 8-electrode handle model promises segmental readings at $119.98, but it is very new, independent and owner evidence is still thin, and it overlaps the ranked Scale Ultra; it needs a track record before it can take a ranked slot.
Wyze$12074
QardioBase 2
A distinctive circular design with pregnancy mode and haptic feedback, but a 2017-era model: current direct US availability and the app's long-term support horizon could not be verified this session, which fails this ranking's accountability bar.
Qardio$15073
Withings BodyFit
Handle-based full-body mapping without Body Scan's ECG tier. It is squeezed by cheaper segmental rivals (VIVA 360+, MorphoScan Nova) and by Body Scan above it, and its price was seen at both $229.95 on promotion and $279.95 at list during this session.
Withings$28072
Wyze Scale X
A capable budget Bluetooth scale, but strictly dominated by its own sibling: for $11 more the Scale Ultra adds Wi-Fi sync and a 4.3-inch color display, which is the version worth buying.
Wyze$3971
RENPHO MorphoScan (original)
RENPHO's first 8-electrode DF-BIA scale (4.8 stars, roughly 2,500 maker-store ratings) is superseded by the MorphoScan Nova, whose larger handle display and guided scan justify the $40 step; the original remains buyable but is no longer the RENPHO to recommend.
RENPHO$18070

Withings Body Smart

AmRank Score 91 $130

Best for: Most households that want accurate, repeatable weigh-ins that sync themselves — Wi-Fi, no phone in hand, and no subscription needed for the core record.

9–440 lb · 0.1 lb precisionMultifrequency BIA · 8 metricsWi-Fi + Bluetooth syncUp to 8 users · 15-mo battery2-year warranty

Product review

Body Smart is the scale this ranking keeps coming back to: multifrequency BIA for fat, muscle, water and bone mass plus visceral fat and standing heart rate, weight to 0.1 lb with Withings' Position Control centering prompts, and Wi-Fi sync that files every weigh-in whether or not a phone is in the room. It adds modes the field mostly skips — pregnancy, baby, athlete and an eyes-closed mode that hides the number — and Withings states plainly that baseline metrics and trends stay free, which keeps its value score ahead of subscription-led rivals.

Color Options

The company

Withings is the French health-tech maker that introduced the first Wi-Fi scale and has sold connected scales for over 15 years. US buyers get a two-year guarantee, free baseline data in the Withings app, and an optional paid Withings+ guidance tier that the scale does not require.

Pros
  • Wi-Fi auto-sync — no phone needed at the weigh-in, unlike Bluetooth-only rivals
  • Position Control prompts and 0.1 lb graduation support repeatable morning readings
  • Core data stays free; Withings+ is optional guidance, not a paywall on your own record
Cons
  • Body composition is foot-to-foot BIA — an estimate, strongest as a trend, not a body-fat measurement
  • Guidance features such as cardiologist ECG review and coaching sit in the paid Withings+ tier
  • Costs roughly five times the budget Bluetooth scales that report a similar metric list

#2AmRank Top Pick \u2014 American Ranking Institute award badge

Withings Body Scan

AmRank Score 88 $500

Best for: Buyers who want the deepest home check a scale can offer — segmental composition, a 6-lead ECG and a nerve-health score — and will pay flagship money for it.

Segmental BIA via handle6-lead ECG + nerve-health score9–440 lb · 0.1 lb precisionWi-Fi + Bluetooth · 8 usersRechargeable · up to 1 yr/charge

Product review

Body Scan puts hands in the circuit: a retractable handle adds segmental fat and muscle readings for arms, legs and torso that foot-only scales can only model, plus a 6-lead ECG, vascular-age and electrodermal nerve-health readings, in about 90 seconds. Withings cites a 99% correlation with DEXA for fat mass in its own study — a correlation claim, not equivalence, and the reason it scores below Body Smart is arithmetic, not ability: at $499.95 it costs nearly four times as much for capability most households will use weekly, not daily.

Color Options

The company

Withings is the French health-tech maker behind the first Wi-Fi scale, with 15-plus years of connected-scale support behind it. Body Scan carries the line's two-year guarantee and free baseline app data; its deepest guidance features are sold as the optional Withings+ tier.

Pros
  • True segmental measurement path (hands + feet), not a foot-only estimate of the upper body
  • 6-lead ECG and nerve-health scoring no other ranked scale offers
  • Rechargeable battery rated up to a year per charge; Wi-Fi sync needs no phone
Cons
  • $499.95 is the highest price among scales that still estimate body fat rather than measure it directly
  • A full measurement takes about 90 seconds with the handle held in position
  • Cardiologist ECG review and the richest coaching are Withings+ subscription features

Garmin Index S2 Smart Scale product photo
#3

Garmin Index S2 Smart Scale

AmRank Score 87 $200

Best for: Garmin watch owners who want weigh-ins filed automatically inside Garmin Connect, next to training, sleep and recovery data.

6 metrics · foot-to-foot BIAWi-Fi sync to Garmin ConnectUp to 16 usersColor display · 30-day trend1-year warranty · 9-mo battery

Product review

The Index S2 does one job unusually well: it disappears into a Garmin routine. Step on and weight, BMI, body fat percentage, skeletal muscle mass, bone mass and body water percentage sync over Wi-Fi to Garmin Connect, with a 30-day trend and even the weather on its color display, for up to 16 users. Long-term owner reports praise exactly that set-and-forget sync, while noting the body-fat figure is a reference trend rather than a measurement — and at the new $199.99 list price, buyers outside the Garmin ecosystem get more metrics per dollar elsewhere.

Color Options
BlackWhite

The company

Garmin is the large US-listed maker of sports watches and navigation devices, headquartered in Olathe, Kansas, and the Index S2 is built to feed its long-running Garmin Connect platform. The scale carries a one-year limited warranty and needs no subscription for its core record.

Pros
  • Automatic Wi-Fi sync into Garmin Connect alongside watch and training data
  • 16 user profiles — the most in this ranking — with automatic recognition
  • Color display shows a 30-day weight trend on the scale itself
Cons
  • US list price has risen from $149.99 at launch to $199.99, which erodes its value case
  • Only six metrics — no visceral fat, heart rate or segmental reading
  • Full value depends on the Garmin ecosystem; Connect's depth is a learning curve for scale-only buyers

Omron VIVA 360+ Smart Scale (BCM750)

AmRank Score 86 $130

Best for: Buyers who trust a medical-device maker's validation discipline and want segmental, handle-based readings without a subscription.

Up to 18 metrics · segmentalHandle + platform electrodesBluetooth to OMRON ConnectUp to 4 users · 330 lb max1-year warranty

Product review

The VIVA 360+ is the ranking's new entrant with a medical pedigree: an integrated handle puts arms and trunk in the measured path for segmental analysis across up to 18 metrics — including body water, bone mass and fat-free mass — with results in about 15 seconds and an athlete mode Omron says uses athlete-specific reference data. Omron's own wording is careful ('validated BIA technology safely estimates body composition'), and the deductions are practical: Bluetooth-only sync, four users, a 330 lb ceiling, and a US launch so recent that owner satisfaction is a promise, not a record.

Color Options

The company

Omron Healthcare is the Kyoto-based maker best known for clinically validated home blood-pressure monitors, with a published US consumer support line (1-800-634-4350). The VIVA 360+ launched in the US in October 2026 with a one-year limited warranty and a free OMRON Connect app.

Pros
  • Segmental, handle-based measurement at a mid-range $129.99 MSRP
  • Omron publishes a US support phone line and a one-year warranty
  • Free OMRON Connect app; no subscription tier gates the metrics
Cons
  • Bluetooth only — your phone must be nearby for every sync
  • 330 lb capacity is the joint-lowest among the ranked handle models
  • Launched in the US in October 2026, so it has no long-term owner record yet

#5

RENPHO MorphoScan Nova

AmRank Score 85 $220

Best for: Data-driven lifters who want segmental fat and muscle maps and 50-plus reported metrics, with every chart free in the app.

8-electrode DF-BIA · segmental50+ metrics in free app4.3" color handle displayUSB-C rechargeable1-year warranty · 400 lb max

Product review

MorphoScan Nova is RENPHO's flagship: eight electrodes across platform and handle, dual-frequency BIA, segmental fat and muscle for five body regions, a 4.3-inch color display in the handle with voice guidance, and more than 50 reported metrics in the RENPHO Health app. Two things lift it above the budget tier — RENPHO states there are no subscription fees or paywalls for trends and reports, and the maker-store record is already substantial (4.8 stars across roughly 1,500 ratings). What it cannot match is the measurement and support depth of the brands above it, and its segmental figures remain BIA estimates.

Color Options

The company

RENPHO is a high-volume wellness brand that publishes US support contacts ([email protected], 1-844-417-0149) and a one-year limited warranty in its manuals. Its MorphoScan line is its move upmarket from the budget Elis scales, sold direct and through major US retailers.

Pros
  • Segmental 8-electrode measurement with a guided handle display at $219.99
  • No subscription: trends, charts and printable reports are free in the app
  • Published US email and phone support; one-year warranty in the manual
Cons
  • No Wi-Fi sync is published — readings move through the phone app
  • 0.2 lb weight division is coarser than the 0.1 lb standard at the top of this ranking
  • Maker-cited DEXA-correlation figures for the line are not independently verified

eufy Smart Scale P3 product photo
#6The Buck4Buck — best value in this category, American Ranking Institute award badge

eufy Smart Scale P3

AmRank Score 84 $100

Best for: Households that want Wi-Fi sync, a color display and unlimited user profiles for under $100, without a subscription.

16 metrics · foot-to-foot BIAWi-Fi + Bluetooth syncUnlimited users0.1 lb / 50 g · 440 lb max30-day money-back guarantee

Product review

The P3 is the value pick of the Wi-Fi tier: 16 reported metrics including heart rate, a customizable color display, unlimited users, and sync over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to the EufyLife app, which renders progress as a 3D avatar. Weight precision is 0.1 lb and capacity 440 lb — the joint-highest here. It ranks mid-table because the measurement itself is ordinary foot-to-foot BIA, because eufy itself steers athletes away from the model, and because Anker's accountability record, while supported by published US contacts, is a consumer-electronics record rather than a health-device one.

Color Options

The company

eufy is the smart-home brand of Anker Innovations. It publishes US support by product family on eufy.com — the health line is 1-800-994-3056, with [email protected] — and sells the P3 direct with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Pros
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth sync at a $99.99 maker-store price
  • Unlimited user profiles with on-screen metric customization
  • Syncs onward to Apple Health, Google Fit and Fitbit
Cons
  • eufy's own page says the P3 is not recommended for athletes or people with very low body fat
  • Wi-Fi is 2.4 GHz only
  • The 3D avatar and coaching plans are motivational presentation, not additional measurement

Wyze Scale Ultra product photo
#7

Wyze Scale Ultra

AmRank Score 83 $50

Best for: Budget buyers who still want Wi-Fi sync and a big color screen — the cheapest scale here that does not need a phone at the weigh-in.

13 metrics · foot-to-foot BIA4.3" color TFT displayWi-Fi + Bluetooth syncUp to 8 users · 400 lb max1-year warranty

Product review

Scale Ultra is the budget disruptor: a 4.3-inch color TFT screen, 13 metrics, Wi-Fi plus Bluetooth sync, baby/pet/luggage modes and an ITO full-surface glass platform for $49.98 — half the price of the next Wi-Fi scale in this ranking. Wyze's own FAQ is unusually candid that BIA body fat is an estimate that may vary from professional instruments, which is the right framing for the whole category. It gives back ground on measurement depth (foot-only path), on its one-year warranty, and on how much less owner history a young product line carries.

Color Options
BlackWhite

The company

Wyze Labs is the Kirkland, Washington smart-home maker known for low-priced connected devices, and it publishes a US support line (1-844-999-3226). The Scale Ultra carries a one-year warranty, and its scale features run in the Wyze app without a subscription.

Pros
  • Wi-Fi auto-sync and a 4.3-inch color display at $49.98
  • Full-surface ITO glass — foot placement is less fussy than four-pad designs
  • Syncs to Apple Health, Health Connect and Fitbit
Cons
  • Heart rate appears in the app, not as an on-scale measurement
  • Foot-to-foot BIA only, and body-composition readings are limited to ages 10–100
  • Wyze is a young, value-led maker; its long-term health-data track record is shorter than Withings' or Omron's

InBody Dial H20N product photo
#8

InBody Dial H20N

AmRank Score 82 $299

Best for: Method-focused buyers who want the home scale from a professional body-composition company, with segmental readings and no subscription.

8-point tactile electrodesSegmental DSM-BIA · 2 frequenciesBluetooth to InBody app330 lb (150 kg) max1-year warranty

Product review

The H20N's claim is methodological: eight tactile electrodes — four at the feet, four on a lift-up grip with patented thumb contacts — measure five segments directly at two frequencies, and InBody's specification states its calculation uses no empirical estimation of the kind foot-only scales apply to the upper body. That discipline is why professionals buy the brand. The deductions are equally concrete: Bluetooth-only sync, a 330 lb ceiling, a small reported metric list next to app-driven rivals, and a $299 price for a scale whose app experience is a record book, not a coach.

The company

InBody (Biospace Inc.) builds the professional body-composition analyzers used in gyms and clinics, and runs its US operation from Cerritos, California. Its H20N manual publishes US contacts ([email protected], 1-323-932-6503) and the home dial carries a one-year warranty.

Pros
  • Direct segmental measurement from the professional BIA specialist
  • Thumb electrodes fix hand position, supporting repeatable readings
  • No subscription; FSA/HSA eligibility is stated on the model's specification
Cons
  • Bluetooth only at a $299 price — no Wi-Fi auto-sync
  • 330 lb capacity trails the 400–440 lb mainstream
  • The same device is sold as H20, H20N and Dial H20, which complicates price and listing checks

RENPHO Elis 1 Smart Body Scale product photo
#9The Buck Blazer \u2014 lowest price in this category, American Ranking Institute award badge

RENPHO Elis 1 Smart Body Scale

AmRank Score 81 $25

Best for: First-time smart-scale buyers who want the proven budget default: 13 metrics, a free app and change from $25.

13 metrics · 4 electrodesBluetooth only · free appUnlimited app profiles400 lb max · 0.2 lb division1-year warranty

Product review

Elis 1 is the scale that made RENPHO: 13 reported metrics — body fat, water, skeletal muscle, visceral and subcutaneous fat, bone mass, protein, BMR and metabolic age among them — through the free RENPHO Health app, with unlimited profiles and sync onward to Apple Health, Fitbit, Samsung Health and MyFitnessPal. At $24.99 on RENPHO's own store it is the cheapest ranked scale by a wide margin, and its owner base is enormous. It ranks ninth, not first, because the hardware is the simplest here: four foot electrodes, Bluetooth only, and a display that shows weight alone.

Color Options

The company

RENPHO is a high-volume wellness brand with published US support ([email protected], 1-844-417-0149) and a one-year limited warranty. The Elis 1 is its best-known product, with a maker-store rating of 4.9 across more than 10,000 ratings.

Pros
  • $24.99 maker-store price with a completely free app — no subscription at any tier
  • Huge, durable owner record (4.9 stars, 10,000+ maker-store ratings)
  • Broad onward sync to the major health platforms
Cons
  • Bluetooth only — the app must be open or nearby at every weigh-in
  • Only weight appears on the scale itself; every other metric lives in the app
  • Foot-to-foot BIA estimates the whole body from the lower body

#10

InBody Dial H30

AmRank Score 80 $379

Best for: Buyers who want InBody's segmental method with a longer results list — waist-hip ratio and an InBody Score — and room for up to 20 users.

8-point tactile electrodes9 reported values · segmentalBluetooth 5.0 · InBody appUp to 20 users recognizedAdds waist-hip ratio + InBody Score

Product review

The Dial H30 applies the same eight-point, direct-segmental measurement as the H20N and reports nine values, adding body fat mass, soft lean mass, waist-hip ratio and an InBody Score, with automatic recognition for up to 20 users. It is a better record-keeping instrument than its sibling and the natural choice for a household or small training group that will actually use segmental trends. It closes the ranking because the increment over the H20N is narrow for the $80 step, and because its US support and retail presence remain specialist-scale next to Withings, Garmin and Omron.

Color Options

The company

InBody (Biospace Inc.) is the professional body-composition specialist behind the analyzers used in clinics and gyms, with a US office in Cerritos, California. The Dial H30's manual publishes US contacts ([email protected], 1-323-932-6503).

Pros
  • Direct segmental measurement with the family's longest home results list
  • Recognizes up to 20 users — built for shared or coached use
  • No subscription; same published US contacts and support route as the H20N
Cons
  • An $80 step over the H20N buys a short list of additional reported values
  • Still Bluetooth only — Wi-Fi arrives only on the H40 above it
  • Thin US retail and owner footprint compared with mainstream brands

InBody Dial H30

The verdict

The Withings Body Smart wins because it gets the fundamentals right at a fair price: repeatable 0.1 lb weigh-ins with position guidance, multifrequency composition estimates, Wi-Fi sync that never asks for your phone, and a free core record from the company that invented the category — it is the scale most households will still be using, and trusting as a trend, in three years. Buyers who want more should step up deliberately: the Body Scan for segmental and ECG data, the Omron VIVA 360+ or RENPHO MorphoScan Nova for handle-based segmental readings, or the RENPHO Elis 1 if $25 and a phone-first routine are the real requirements.

Questions, answered

Do smart scales actually measure body fat?

No home scale measures body fat directly. Weight is measured; everything else is estimated by bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) — a small current whose resistance is fed into an algorithm with your height, age and sex. Hydration, food and exercise move the estimate day to day, so the honest use of any scale here is the trend over weeks under the same morning conditions, never a single body-fat reading.

Is an 8-electrode scale with a handle more accurate than a foot-only scale?

It measures more of you. A foot-only scale sends current through the lower body and estimates the rest; a handle model puts arms and trunk in the measured path and reads segments directly, which removes one layer of modeling. That supports the higher performance scores for the Withings Body Scan, Omron VIVA 360+, RENPHO MorphoScan Nova and InBody models here — but segmental BIA is still an estimate, not a DEXA scan.

Wi-Fi or Bluetooth — does it matter?

For consistency, yes. Wi-Fi scales (Withings, Garmin, eufy P3, Wyze Ultra) file every weigh-in automatically, while Bluetooth-only scales need your phone nearby with the app available, which is where home tracking quietly breaks down. If you have repeatedly abandoned app-based logging, pay for Wi-Fi; if your phone is always in the bathroom, Bluetooth models like the RENPHO Elis 1 are the value sweet spot.

Which scales charge a subscription for full features?

None of the ranked scales requires a subscription for its core record. Withings keeps baseline metrics and trends free and sells Withings+ guidance on top; RENPHO, Wyze, Omron, Garmin, eufy and InBody expose their scale data without a paywall. The clearest subscription case in the screened pool is Hume Health's Body Pod, where review evidence found features behind a Hume Plus plan reported at about $100 a year — a running cost this ranking scores against value.

Who should not use the body-composition modes?

People with pacemakers or other implanted electronic devices should not use BIA modes — makers state this in their manuals — and several scales offer a weight-only mode instead (the eufy P3 calls it simple mode). During pregnancy, body-composition estimates are unreliable because of fluid changes; Withings and Omron both provide weight-focused modes for that period. Children get weight, and in some models limited reference data, rather than full composition readings.
